Another stop we made during our time in Yellowstone National Park was to see the Grand Prismatic Spring. In case you don’t know, the scale of this spring is belittling to say the least. Therefore getting a picture of the actual breadth of the spring is impossible without a plane or helicopter. However there are a ton of smaller thermal pools are the Grand Prismatic Spring that resemble there gigantic counterpart.

Although the air in the area smells heavily of sulfur, it was nice to feel the warm air since it was a tiny bit chilly that day for this Floridian. The most intriguing parts of the spring for me was both the color of the bacteria living in the warm water and the texture that the calcium build up created in the run off.

The entire area around the Grand Prismatic Spring is alive and it reminds you of that fact the entire time you are there through the rising steam and the colorful bacteria.
